September Birthday cards

September is a big birthday month, so lots of opportunities to make some fun cards. There's my brother, sister and mother... and not to forget our three year old granddaughter, who is really into cupcakes.  Here goes:

Birthday card for my sister-in-law. Masked the flowers and used the blender tool to shade in background. Getting better with masking strip. Love this cling stamp set! Peach Parfait and chocolate chip from SU.

Card for my sister's birthday. Stamped happy after embossing, should have done it before. Love the flower technique in 3-blocks. Same stamp as the sunflowers, but with concord grape and pear pizazz.

Matching envelope...

Birthday card for Mom, using the rubber stamp from  online class purchase. I feel like I am finally getting the  hang of using them. Used Poppy Parade from SU with white and black. Tried heat embossing but didn't like the results. Redid the card and used blender tool to soften the edges. The red twine is an exact match for red.

Matching envelope

Three-year old cupcakes and a picture! Heat embossed the hearts and "lit" the candles with gold glitter! Used So saffron as yellow is Cami's favorite color, right now :)

Added white detail with pen, embossed the mat for card and the frosting on cupcakes.

Get well card for my brother recovering at a sub acute care center. His days must be very long as he's not very mobile now. I added the acorns after heat embossing and using dazzling details to give them some shine. I am loving the triple layer technique.

Kick Start

New online class started today, Kick Start!  You can tell by the title it is definitely something I need... My main sources of inspiration are Pinterest and other blogs. I haven't been brave enough yet to enter a challenge because I do use other folk's designs. Maybe this will get me rolling!

So here's my first submission for the class using ideas from the other classes that I have taken. Interestingly... I added it with flickr! Next time I might try adding from this blog...

I used the stamp from last class, but did Versamark to emboss it in white. Then watercolored with Yoyo yellow and Garden green, like the effect. I decided to try the technique with three frames, wish I didn't round the corners on the card though! This is my first attempt at faux stitching in black. The butterfly is watercolored after white embossing using the lattice background stamp. Used dimensionals to attach it to vellum.

I can see that my photos need to be better to get the detail of cards. Will work on that....

Also wanted to document a few other cards for my own reminder.
Sympathy card for a friend. Love the masking and layering technique with this set. Will definitely use again!

Matching envelope

Used for Nancy's birthday. Love Distress shading and the masking so it is all one layer.

Colored with Copic markers. The sentiment smudged so I will use it for my Emma penpal letter but will mask and color with these gorgeous flower stamps again!
